Sailboat Adventure Begins

For the next 3 months my boyfriend Ty and I will be renting a live-abord sailboat. It's our chance to find out if we're 'boat people'. So far we've spent 2 nights on the 30 ft boat, both completely different from each other. The first was stormy. The wind howled, things creaked, groaned, flapped, swayed and the rain pounded louder than I've ever heard. I felt like I was camping- not wanting to get out of the 'tent' to head down the dock to the washroom. It was a rocky night, not full of sleep, but full of adventure. The next night the water was glassy and the only sound was the snoring dog. We got to go out sailing on Lake Union with the captain and crew that evening. We circled the lake enjoying the weather and being on the water. So aside from some mold problems reeking havoc on my allergies, it's been smooth sailing. I'm going to try to document it as we go along so stay tuned.

Check out my new stamp logo!

I'm really excited about my new logo. Old travel stamps were my inspiration so I had a custom stamp made. Check out this stop motion video of it in action!

Spring Fun

A street lined with cherry blossoms inspired me to get out and shoot. So I grabbed my friend Dylan and dressed him up. A newsy clicking his heels was the story and we took it from there. He was great at the 'right ol' chap!' expressions, which were classic.

If anyone out there wants to be a model and have fun with the camera let me know!

Have A Heart for Kids Day 2010

Every year The Children's Alliance has a march to the capitol steps where they rally for kids. This year they joined forces with other groups to send the message that revenue is critical for Washington State. Thousands of people gathered on the steps. Bob Marley blasted from the speakers pumping everyone up to speak out to their legislators. An impact was surely made. Check out the good work the Alliance does: www.childrensalliance.org.

Ballard Slide Show

A Walk Down Ballard Ave from Tegra Nuess on Vimeo.

I've been wanting to experiment with sound and photographs for a while. So I gave myself an assignment and took a walk up Ballard Ave documenting what I saw. Just using my iPhone to record sound, I started to hear in a different way. The hums and beeps separated from each other and I could really hear what was happening around me. It was a fun project and hopefully resulted in a nice little snapshot of one of the best streets in Seattle.

Snowshoe Fun

Some friends and I went snowshoeing yesterday. Despite the lack of snow this year, we found some deep, soft, wet snow to play around in. I want to thank them for being models and jumping off tree stumps at my request. Here are my favs:

Night Time Collaboration

What's better than getting together with fellow photogs and playing around in the dark with some lights and some cameras? Last week my friends Dylan and Milana and I did just that. With three flashes, a tripod and a camera we managed to come up with some fun shots.
