Sometime in February when the rain started to become unbearable, my girlfriends and I decided we needed a girls trip somewhere tropical. We chose Playa del Carmen, Mexico and had a wonderful time. We rented a condo in town giving us a beautiful rooftop deck as our home base. We snorkeled in a cenote, drove a buggy and a scooter around Cozumel island, sailed to the Tulum ruins on an 80 ft catamaran and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There's nothing like relaxing and adventuring with your best girls. Here are my favorite shots from the trip, because I still had to do some work ;).

Home Brewing
What to do on a sunny, cold Sunday in February? Learn to home brew beer of course! My friend Jesse Thomsen invited us over to watch the process and I naturally stuck my camera in his face. Here are my favorite shots:

After the grains cook and are filtered out, the beer boils and brews and protein must be filtered off the top.

Hops are added and stirred in.

The beer must be cooled quickly which is done by a copper coil of cold running water.

Beer! This will be stored for 2-4 months before drinking.

The brew master Jesse.

Checking the temperature of the water for the next batch.

Have A Heart For Kids Day 2010
One of my favorite yearly events, Have A Heart for Kids Day, happened this week. The Children's Alliance's big march on the capitol steps and rally is always an inspiration. This year the Pacific Northwest Drum Line led our grand entrance to the steps. Half way through the rally the bright sunny skies were taken over by clouds and snow began dumping down on us. It didn't stop the crowd from cheering and the kids from smiling. Here are my favorite shots:

Stand Strong for kids was this year's theme.

Jen leading the cheers.

Winter Wonderland
So I got to spend New Years weekend up at my Dad's Dome cabin in Northeastern Washington and we couldn't have gotten better weather. About 6 inches of powdery snow fell before 4 bluebird days. Our last day I was very excited to see perfect snowflakes falling with the sun shining through. Here are my favorites:
